The Webb School -
8 Questions for P. Michael Quinn
12/2006
Teacher of: Art, Biology

Years at The Webb School: 7

1. What other activities and/or duties do you have at your school other than teaching?

I am fortunate to be able to participate in a number of fulfilling organizations. I am a member of the Care Team and sponsor of Feet to Feet, the Fishing Club, The Oracle (the student newspaper), Ultimate Frisbee, and I assist in occasional outer limits backpacking trips.

2. What has been one of your most memorable teaching experiences at the school?

There are so many that naming a specific moment is difficult, but whatever they have in common includes faces of sparked interest and smiles of understanding.

3. Describe one of your most interesting personal experiences at the school?

Webb offers a unique experience for our graduating seniors called Senior Survival. Although there is no element of “survival” involved, it does include a week of challenging and rewarding outdoor experiences. As I listen to the students during this experience, I am always warmed and encouraged by the young humans we are releasing into the world.

4. If you were able to teach any subject you want, what would that be and why?

I would like to teach Truth, because I would have to know it beforehand. I’ve been looking for that rascal for as long as I remember, and I reckon it will continue to keep my mental background busy for quite some time.

5. What do you feel is your school’s most positive asset?

Webb places a strong emphasis on meeting the needs of the students, and I am motivated by the care and concern the faculty, staff, and administrators exhibit toward this goal.

6. What advice would you give a new student at your school?

Advice? I have none to give really, but I would like to hear about his or her interests and expectations from Webb.

7. If you weren’t teaching, what would you like to be doing?

I would like to be creating a place for pure and true ideas to materialize. Actually, I’m hoping to be doing that now, but if it appears it only does so in fits and starts, so I guess I should simply say, “Focusing”.

8. Any Additional Comments?

Where does the time go?
